Mindful Self-reflection can be very helpful for ones character development.
This is when you look into yourself with no judgment, engage with your thoughts and be kind to yourself by asking yourself questions to boost your self esteem.
It encourages non reactive awareness by understanding patterns, and reactions. It will help you return to your feelings and thoughts without any judgement & spark curiosity rather than criticism, promoting self compassion and acceptance.
Instead of dwelling on the past and worrying about the future, you can reflect and learn the way you react to things. Then you can become in control of the outcome in the present moment.
It is great to learn the way you react because sometimes we use our emotions to guide the way we speak out loud. Sometimes we don't realize that it can change the outcome of a situation & we are stuck wishing things did not pan out that way.
Do yourself the favor & start within.
You are the only one who is in control of your day, although things can happen that are out of your control. Always consider what you CAN control rather than what you CANNOT.
Mindful self-reflection can reduce those stress inducing thoughts. It may also allow individuals who can make choices that are in harmony with ones authentic self.
Ways you can start including Mindful Thinking into your everyday life is :
Creating a quiet space that involves relaxation & allows your to feel at your best comfort level with no interruptions.
Set an intention. Think about something you'd like to focus on and improve.
Take about 5 deep breaths through your nose & out your mouth to reset.
Be open with yourself so that you can be aware of the present moment.
Be consistent. It may be something new & a concept you need to grasp for a lil while but just like many things, the more you do it the more it will become easier.
Journal your questions and thoughts to yourself in this space with the date so you can look back at some point and see the progress. If you were sad one day, you might find yourself reading about it on a day you are happy & realize that these things can happen. You'd be proud & give yourself more positivity & praise.
Meditation is also a great tool to incorporate into your daily life. It can bring in balance & be useful at times that you needed some peace.
Always show gratitude. This will allow yourself to appreciate yourself and appreciate the things that bring positivity in your life.
Questions to yourself can be as easy as :
What sounds are around you right now?
Can you describe the last thing you ate in detail?
What colors are around you?
What are some things that makes you smile?
What is something that you are grateful for?
What are some habits you can change to ensure a positive day?
How do you face a challenging situation?
How does it feel to go for a walk outside?
How does it feel to let go of judgement towards yourself?
How can I take challenges and turn them into growth for learning?
What is my favorite snack & what kind of texture is it?
Can I touch some water today & what temperature is it?
When I get dressed, what do I do first?
Can I give myself a complement in this exact moment, if so what is it? If not, why?
Give these a try & see how it can change the way you view yourself!
It'll bring you closer to knowing yourself & it might help you gain some self love which will boost your self confidence & gain clarity on things throughout your day to day life.
